{"id":531,"date":"2023-04-17T15:18:23","date_gmt":"2023-04-17T15:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scottishstandard.flagshiphost.co.uk\/?p=531"},"modified":"2023-04-18T15:39:25","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T15:39:25","slug":"bbc-axe-plans-to-reboot-beloved-quiz-show-and-its-bad-news-for-alison-hammond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottishstandard.flagshiphost.co.uk\/?p=531","title":{"rendered":"BBC axe plans to reboot beloved quiz show \u2013 and it\u2019s bad news for Alison Hammond"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Usually everything Alison Hammond touches turns to gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I can reveal a reboot of game show Friends Like These, co-hosted by the This Morning star, has been shelved following a pilot last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alison was set to bring back the Noughties programme alongside Vernon Kay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the BBC, who aired the original \u2014 hosted by Ant and Dec, and later, Ian Wright \u2014 has decided not to pursue a full series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A TV insider says: \u201cBringing back Friends Like These seemed a no-brainer but bosses felt it wasn\u2019t the right time, as the light entertainment schedule is just so packed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s no reflection on either Alison or Vernon, who did a sterling job as hosts. There\u2019s hope it could be reignited further down the line.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alison was recently announced as the new host of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/who\/matt-lucas\/\">T<\/a>he Great British Bake Off, taking over from Matt Lucas who is quitting the Channel 4 series in December after three years alongside Noel Fielding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As well as her Friday slot fronting This Morning with Dermot O\u2019Leary, she co-hosted this year\u2019s Baftas with Richard E Grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since appearing on I\u2019m A Celebrity in 2020, Vernon has enjoyed a career renaissance, hosting ITV series Game Of Talents and appearing as a panelist on the male-only special of Loose Women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And in February, we revealed the Bolton-born star was taking over from Ken Bruce on Radio 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m sure neither of them will have to wait long for the next job offer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Usually everything Alison Hammond touches turns to gold.
